The following links are available to help your junior lifeguard have a successful summer:
2017 “C” Overnight Campout
The “C” Group will be camping overnight at Tower 28, which is north of Goldenwest Street and just South of Seapoint Street. Parents can deliver their children to the Bolsa Chica State Beach parking lot north of Seapoint. The gate attendant is expecting JG parents and your JG parking passes will be needed to enter the gates. (Please refrain from dropping off at the Dog Beach/Tower 28 bluff-top parking as it will be very crowded, and won’t be supervised.). Traffic laws apply. Parking or stopping on PCH is prohibited. Small wagons (or other carrying devices) are encouraged and can assist in moving camping gear, as it is approximately a half-mile walk south to the campsite. Bolsa Chica parking lots are off limits for overnight stays. Parents may walk with their Junior Guard to the campsite and assist them with their tent set up.
Dropping off and picking up your kids:
You should arrive in the Bolsa Chica State Beach parking lot between 9-9:45AM. Parents will be allowed to walk with their child to the campsite and assist their children in setting up their tents and camping area.
On Friday August 4th, parents should plan to pick up their children between 10-10:45AM. There will be instructors in the parking lot guiding you to your destination south of the Bolsa Chica jetty. Absolutely no children will be dropped off or picked up on PCH. Please be on time to pick up your child.
DO NOT DROP YOUR KIDS OFF ON PCH.
Tent Set-Up: Parents are encouraged to help their child set up a tent when they arrive. Boundaries will be established to keep boys/girls separate and all the tents as close together as possible. Siblings, or friends of the same gender are encouraged to share a tent to save on space.
Food: We will be providing lunch and dinner the first day of the campout and breakfast the following morning. The children and instructors prepare all meals each day. If your child has any specific dietary concerns please pack extra food for them or have them tell their instructor prior to the start of the trip so that we are able to make the appropriate arrangements. Please have your child bring a plate, utensils and a cup that they can wash and reuse for each meal. There will be no “Snack Bar” available to the kids on this campout. Please feel free to pack extra food for your junior Guard.
Meals will include:
Day 1 Lunch: Grilled Cheese Sandwich or Cheese Quesadillas w/chips and Kool-Aid
Day 1 Dinner: Hot dogs or hamburgers (with or without chili) and fruit and Kool-Aid (ice cream for dessert)
Day 2 Breakfast: Pancakes and Sausage w/ fruit and Tang
Junior Guards must bring their uniforms including their beanie and warm clothing for the evening. Sweatshirts, tennis shoes, a towel, sunscreen, a hat, a sleeping bag with a plastic ground cloth or cover, and a tent are essential to a comfortable trip. Instructors will be on duty and alert throughout the entirety of the night. Included in the campout will be opportunities for surfing, body boarding, and swimming. There will be entertainment in the evening so be sure to bring a flashlight!
If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Henry or Mr. Eich at firstname.lastname@example.org, please include “C Overnight Campout” in the subject line. Those wishing to stay for a portion of the day need to park in the bluff-top parking lot, or park in the Bolsa Chica State Beach parking lot. Your Jr. Guard parking passes will not work in these lots. Early pickups must be conducted at the campsite
